Why curly girls should give up the towel

The other day I was reading my local message board on The Nest and came across a topic on curly hair. Thinking I might be able to give some advice I opened the post. I did have a few things to offer, but learned something in the process. Curly haired girls shouldn't use a regular terrycloth towel to dry their hair because it causes the frizz. So what should they use instead? A T-shirt! Who knew? Being the hair girl that I am I took to the interwebz and found a few things I wanted to share, like this Plop method of drying I found on naturallycurly.com. You can use either a T-shirt or a microfiber towel. Apply your product first then follow the instructions below.

You leave it up like this for 15-30 min. You might need to add a little more product after you take it down. Then you can finish by diffusing or letting air dry.
So my curly haired friends try it out and let me know.

  1. Okay, I gave this a go (but it took me awhile to find the opportunity because I rarely wash my hair :) and I actually think the t-shirt was better. I'm going to try it once more to eliminate the possibility of a coincidence or the placebo effect but I felt like my hair was less frizzy. The added bonus is that my husband was happy that I wore my hair curly (the natural kind - not the curling iron kind) for the first time in months :)

  2. I'm trying this right now! So far, I'm happy with the results - I wrapped my hair up in a tee, and when I took it down, I definitely noticed less frizz. I'm letting it air dry as I type. :)
